GCC Circular Economy Awards

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Circular Economy Award is the first recognition program designed to motivate organizations to transition from Linear to Circular Economy for Environmental Sustainability. Award program supports green economy and blue economy to achieve Net Zero, Vision 2030 and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals UN SDGs, especially SDG #12 – Sustainable Consumption and Production. along with transition to green energy, renewable energy, Participation is open for any type of organizations: small, medium-size and large, private, public, nonprofit, school, academia, university, fund, government, startup. Organizations must be located in GCC, Middle East, MENA region, particularly in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia or United Arab Emirates. Qualified enterprises are those which implement creative and innovative Circular Economy models and practices, such as Product-as-a-Service (PaaS), Product life extension, Circular Supplies, Lifecycle Assessment (LCA), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Digital product passport and others. Through Circular Design, Reverse logistics and Waste management (recycling, upcycling), these models and practices help to avoid Triple planetary crisis – global environmental crises of pollution, climate crisis, biodiversity loss and ecological crises. Awards support principles of circularity: design to reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, remanufacture to reduce carbon emissions, GHG emissions, waste generation and regenerate nature. Circular Economy is beneficial for Planet, People and Profit, and helps the Earth to stay within its Planetary boundaries and Move The Date of Planet Overshoot Day. Award Ceremony will be part of the GCC Circular Economy Conference – a sustainability event in October 2024 in the UAE, where recognized organizations will receive a trophy and will have an opportunity to showcase their achievements and contributions, network and shared proven best practices in circularity and sustainability.
